Freekey Zekey Reveals Rare “Welcome to New York City” Studio Story with Jay-Z

The 730 Dip opens up on whether the Dips have beef with Jigga

With Dame Dash avoiding questions from media and Funk Flex issuing public rants over the last few weeks, Freekey Zekey was next up to open about past issues with Jay-Z. In a sit-down with Jack Thriller for ThisIs50, the Harlem music executive revealed some rare stories regarding The Diplomats time at Roc-a-Fella Records.

Along with Cam’ron, Juelz Santana and Jim Jones, the quadrant aligned themselves with long-time friend Dame Dash and entered their new situation very humble. With Zeek handling the business aspect, the crew initially planned to work with Jigga on a single roll-out for “Welcome to New York City.”

After having two months of miscommunication, Freek talked how they pressured Hova into the studio after running into him at Baseline Studios and declining to make it their next street single.
