Gucci Mane Talks Recording “DropTopWOP” with Metro Boomin on Beats 1

Last Friday on May 26th Gucci Mane released his latest project DropTopWOP, produced entirely by Metro Boomin. That date was a special one to Guwop as it marked the one year anniversary of him being released from prison following three years behind bars. Since getting home, Gucci Mane has been one of the more active entertainers in rap having already released seven projects and racked up a number of guest features since being released last year.

This past year has been on one of Big Gucci’s best and during a recent interview with Beats 1 radio host Zane Lowe, the Atlanta rapper calls the past 365 days “the best year of my life.” Also in the brief phone call interview, Gucci Mane spoke on working with Young Metro on his newly released project and how important it was to release the project exactly one year to the day of being released from prison.

Gucci Mane went on to talk about his relationship with Metro Boomin and comparing it to that of his relationship with Mike WiLL Made It, recalling how determined the producer was back in the day and wondering why Gucci never rapped on his beats. GuWop further states that he and Metro would have recorded more songs for the album, but the super producer fell asleep following their 12 songs in 2 days studio sessions.

Gucci also talked about his upcoming marriage to longtime girlfriend Keyshia Ka’oir and upcoming book, The Autobiography of Gucci Mane, both set to come around the same time.
