J. Cole explains competition Kendrick Lamar, Drake situation, on the release weekend of his new no. 1 album, The Off-Season. Earlier this weekend, J. Cole was guest on Kevin Durant’s ETCS podcast to discuss his newly released project. The North Carolina rapper opened up on his relationships with fellow top dogs of the genre, Kendrick Lamar and Drake.

He went to cite that he was one of the most competitive musicians, chasing the throne and wanting to be the best rapper alive. However, with retirement from music looming, Cole said that he’s been using recent years to develop bonds with fellow rap peers.
