James Blake is back with his surprise new single “If the Car Beside You Moves Ahead,” which serves as his first original solo track since 2016’s The Colour in Anything album.
“If the car beside you moves ahead, as much as it feels as though you’re dead, you’re not going backwards,” he sings on the record, which captures the glitchy sound of his earlier work. The song coincides with the return of Blake’s BBC Radio 1 residency, and comes with a video which sees him driving through the night.
Elsewhere, Blake recently appeared on “King’s Dead” with Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar and Future.
