JAY-Z – The Story of O.J.

Artist: JAY-Z
Song: “The Story of O.J.”
Producer: No I.D.
Album: 4:44
Director: JAY-Z, Mark Romanek

After a week of mysterious posters and trailers across the United States, TIDAL and Sprint customers (and those who know how to finesse the Internet) got the new JAY-Z album last night. Not only have they enjoyed the music for the past 12 hours, but the rapper has also released an animated video for “The Story of OJ.” The standout track gets a black and white treatment with a message about black stereotypes. As you can hear from the lyrics, Hov plays off some of the feelings that people in our our culture think about African Americans because of what happened in the past, but how things need to change and we need to get past it.

If you have TIDAL, you can watch the video up top.

“‘The Story of OJ’ is really a song about we as a culture, having a plan, how we’re gonna push this forward. We all make money, and then we all lose money, as artists especially. But how, when you have some type of success, to transform that into something bigger.”
