Kanye West Reportedly Leaves JAY-Z’s Tidal Over Alleged Financial Dispute

That Drake Throne album would’ve been nice. . .

Last November, Kanye West called out JAY-Z and Beyoncé during his Saint Pablo Tour – airing out some personal issues he had with the two. After checking himself into rehab soon after for alleged mental help, the iconic musician’s tour was officially cancelled by Live Nation.

After months of going into exile from the general public, Yeezy emerged a few weeks ago and was surprisingly cordial with media. Well, he became the topic of discussion over the weekend, when Hov released his 4:44 album, criticizing Kanye’s actions from last fall on “Kill JAY-Z.”

This worsened things between the two, as it’s being reported by TMZ, that West has now departed from Tidal, amid an alleged financial dispute. Nearly two years ago, when he Jigga first unveiled the streaming service, Yeezy was one of the artists who agreed to help with providing an exclusive album the following year. Unfortunately, Kanye’s TLOP project didn’t get an RIAA platinum certified until just last April, as it was also held off Billboard sales charts for multiple weeks.

This was due to Tidal keeping streaming numbers private, with Ye generating nearly 1.5 million new users on the service. In the report, West’s lawyer sent two letters to Tidal during the past month saying, “The company was in breach and the contract terminated.” The lawyer also alleged that the company did not pay him a bonus for his new subscribers generated from Pablo, as well as not being reimbursed for exclusive musical visuals (rumored to be $3 million).

In response, Tidal sent a letter to Kanye, threatening a lawsuit if he attempts to join another streaming music service. However, those close to the situation, confirmed with TMZ that Yeezy intends to never have an exclusive album release or contract with another streaming service for upcoming material – to avoid what happened with limited access on Tidal. We’ll keep you updated if anything happens regarding this touchy situation between the two long-time friends.
