Yesterday, NBC had one of the better episodes this year for Saturday Night Live’s 40th anniversary. In comparison to previous affairs, where the artist was essentially the only highlight of the show, Billy Hoyle (Woody Harrelson) had viewers laughing hysterically with witty writing and random situations – including the genius True Detective sketch with Taran Killam subbing in for Matthew McConaughey.

Kendrick Lamar made his third appearance at SNL to promote his upcoming yet to be titled sophomore album. While many expected him to perform his popular single at the moment “i,” he unfortunately didn’t premiere a new single like some were expected him to throughout the week. However, his fellow Black Hippy cohort, Jay Rock did accompany him in the outing to perform their collaborative new release of “Pray for It.”
