Loud Favorites: Folk & Stress

With their debut album “The Box” set to drop next year featuring The GZA, Aesop Rock, Vast Aire, Blu and Bronze Nazareth and co-signs from Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg and Dreddy Kruger, Long Island emcee/producer duo Folk & Stress are a problem. Complete with grimey beats, rumbling vocals and dope rhyme schemes, we caught up with the pair initially at the recording session for Rosenberg and Oddisee’s second installment (coming soon, shh!), and immediately set up some time to talk at SRC.

In the first video, they get into a few of their favorite verses and talk about what it was like the meeting and recording their joint called “New York” with GZA. It’s hard to say which video is better, though. The second flick features the story about how they got on. I’m convinced that there is no luck in show business, but there sure as shit is a lot of incredible star alignment. Let’s just say their story involves former NJ Nets baller Jayson Williams, a voicemail and a subsequent hangover in Denver, Colorado. Yup.
