Fans of M.I.A. have probably stayed loyal to her over the course of her three albums since 2005. After the release of well-received “Bad Girls” single at the beginning of last year, it seemed that her fourth album titled Matangi was well within reach. A year later, there’s still no album, but the good news is that we should have it in our hands by April 15th, which coincides with a rather special date. The multi-talented artist said:
“It’s due in April, which is the Tamil new year – April 15th – and I’m still working on it. At the moment, I’ve been told it’s too positive. So we’re having a bit of an issue at the label. They’re like, ‘You need to like darken it up a bit.’ I don’t know what it is but as soon as I work that out.” ‘We just built you up as the public enemy No. 1 and now you’re coming out with all this positive stuff’, said Interscope.
As you may know already know, the video for “Bad Girls” managed to attain the prize for Best Short Form Music Video at the Grammy Awards. If this is any indication of what we should expect from her next project, our hopes should be held high.
