Mary J. Blige and Faith Evans Reminisce On the Making of “One More Chance”

It has been over 20 years since the world got to hear The Notorious B.I.G.‘s “One More Chance” and for those who didn’t love through the era, may not know much about how the record came together.

REVOLT sat down with Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans and Rashad Smith to speak on how they ended up on the track and how Puff Daddy‘s direction shaped the record to be a hit.

Rashad starts out talking about how he was making another beat when Puffy called him to cook something up for Biggie, and how he sampled something else before landing on the DeBarge sample. Once Puff heard it, it was a wrap. Then he called up Faith and Mary to jump on the track. They didn’t even know it would be a smash at the time, it was just something else they worked on for Diddy.

20 years later, it’s a certified classic and one of the best songs in hip-hop. Ever.
