Whether you’d like to admit it or not, Missy Elliott helped usher in a sound that helped shape a generation of hip-hop music, all while rocking with the likes of Timbaland, Jay-Z, and Janet Jackson just to name a few. We haven’t received a studio album from the 42-year-old Virginia native since 2006, and at this point we might as well consider that a decade because it feels like one. In her video chat with Michael Yo, Missy makes it clear that there is no writer’s block holding up the creation process, but she does stress that she wants things to be “game changing” when she finally makes her return.
