Before Puffy, Biggie and Lox were calling themselves the Goodfellas, there was a duo from up top in the Bronx by the names of Showbiz and A.G. who were already ahead of the game on the wave. From the group’s critically acclaimed album “Goodfellas”, Show and Andre the Giant of the legendary underground hip-hop collective, Diggin’ in the Crates Crew, released one of our favorite underground tracks of all time “Next Level.”
In comparison to their debut album “Runaway Slave,” the Boogie Down duo got a darker vibe for their sophomore album highlighted by DJ Premier’s “Nyte Time Mix” on the Next Level, that sampled Diamond D. The visuals perfectly depicted the movement that Show and AG were trying to get across, which our younger readers can get acquainted with the two emcees above.
