Our Favorite Hype Williams-Directed Videos

Hype Williams stepped on the scene in the early ’90s, and is responsible for some of the biggest and most favored Hip-Hop music videos from that time all the way up until today. Inspired by Basquiat and Keith Haring, Hype Williams displayed his eye for color, while displaying his graffiti tag (HYPE) on many street canvases that were available to show off his form of art in the streets of his hometown, New York.

Throughout his career, Hype also dabbled in photography as well as screenwriting and was set to direct feature films and an animated series all of which never made its way past the development stages. Only one film was able to make its way to the big screen and that was the 1998 urban classic, Belly that starred DMX and Nas.

Today, we have decided to pay homage to the legendary director and one who revolutionized the game, with some of our favorite videos from his catalog. Walk with us as we count down some of our favorite visuals directed by Hype Williams.
