Pop Smoke Murder Suspects Can Receive Death Penalty if Convicted

Today, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office brought criminal charges to two adults and two teenagers in connection to the murder of Pop Smoke.

Corey Walker (19) and Keandre Rodgers (18) were both charged with murder with the special circumstance allegation that the murder occurred during the commission of a robbery and a burglary. Gang and gun allegations are also named in the criminal complaint against them. The two face the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.

At this time, prosecutors have no decided on whether they will seek capital punishment.

The other two males charged with one count of murder and robbery in juvenile court today were ages 17 and 15. Considering they are still minors, their names were not revealed.

Pop just released his posthumous new album Shoot For the Stars Aim For the Moon last week and it has gone No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
