After being indicted for child pornography and obstruction of justice, a judge has ordered R. Kelly to be transferred from Chicago to New York City by U.S. Marshals. The R&B singer is scheduled to be at an August 2 hearing, stemming from federal sex charges in the state as well.
Before the transfer, Kelly was in a Chicago jail, being held without bond.
In their indictment, New York prosecutors claim that the Pied Piper had sex with underage girls, filmed it and tried to cover up the incidents. Assistant U.S. Attorney Angel Krull had this to say about the charges:
“We’re talking seventh and eighth-grade girls. And it didn’t happen once or twice. He sexually abused them hundreds of times before they turned 18.”
Just last week, it was being reported that Kelly preferred solitary confinement to the general population because he was in fear of his life and felt he was in “real danger.” Apparently, he feared of what other inmates would do to him.
The R. faces charges in Illinois, Georgia and New York so far, without counting his federal charges in New York and Illinois.
