Rick Rubin Talks Music with Mac Miller in ‘Shangri-La’ Footage

It’s tough to watch posthumous Mac Miller clips because it felt like he was so happy before his untimely passing. In this short clip from SHOWTIME’s Shangri-La series, he’s in the studio waiting up to meet with Rick Rubin, just coming up with concepts of what ultimately ended up on Swimming. By the time the legendary producer gets there, Mac is stoked to see him and share a conversation with him, telling him that his goal with his music is to be as much him as possible. Rubin agrees and says he’s the only one that can control that.

We know Mac has plenty of unreleased music in the vault, but we hope that his estate releases the right stuff to keep his legacy alive when they’re ready.

Rest in peace Malcolm.
