If you cast your memory right back to the beginning of the year, you may remember seeing a pretty exhilarating trailer for a documentary titled Spit Gold Under An Empire. Well the entire film is now here, giving us an influential outlook on New York’s current underground rap scene. Beautifully shot by Emily Kai Bock, the close to four-minute short film tells a story like no other, managing to curate an atmospheric look through the streets of Brooklyn, showing us the places where many upcoming young artists seek their inspiration. With appearances from the likes of Mykki Blanco, Angel Haze, CJ Fly, Kirk Knight and The Underachievers, there’s certainly plenty for the majority to learn from the above footage.
