Terrace Martin – Tribe Called West

It’s no secret, Terrace Martin is a big fan of A Tribe Called Quest. He’s mentioned it in several interviews in the past and he credits them for getting him into jazz in the first place. Terrace grew up a big soul and rap fan, but it was the sounds of ATCQ which made him want to pick up a saxophone and whale it loud.

With his upcoming album Velvet Portrait on the way April 1, Martin has released his tribute to the group, aptly titled “Tribe Called West.” The song was done in New York and was completely inspired by Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White, who unfortunately suffered a tragedy this week. They all touched so many hearts throughout the years and made an impact with their music and here’s another example of it.
