One Shot Videos (Especially Freestyle Videos)
Another way rappers try to squeeze the living shit out of promo nowadays is by shooting mad videos. It actually works to your advantage when you’re putting out quality (repeat: QUALITY) material with an actual story plot, or something out of the ordinary. But not when you’re sitting on a car with the same outfit rapping to the camera throughout the whole song. At best, they’ll stand up and rap their verses from a different angle, but not much else goes on.
Put some thought into your presentation. Don’t just go out to a rare location nobody has ever been and do the same thing. Don’t wonder why your career is stagnant when you’ve shot five videos and they’re never creative or worth watching.
It might work for established acts (because they don’t do it much), but not for up and comers.
