Dear Rappers,
As much as we love seeing you thrive and become successful at your craft, there are things we see on an every day basis that just get on our nerves. You would think, in 2013, some these things would be common knowledge to you and corny rap tactics would be out of your repertoire, but it seems like things have gotten a bit out of hand. You do things that hurt you, more than help you. You try to stretch every last bit of promo and squeeze the life out of a project instead of being natural and organic with it.
Of course, not all of you do this. Some know the formula and run with it. Some re-invent the formula and make it their own. We applaud those that do. Those that are original and creative. The ones who set the standard. Originality is key.
We’re speaking to those who try to be too extra. Those who bite other rappers. The ones who’s thirst has surpassed that of a camel in the desert and starve to remain relevant.
So take a brief walk with us, as we let you know some of the things we don’t want to see from rappers in 2013 and beyond. We’re fed up and we need these things to retire. In the words of Jay-Z, “..ain’t tryin’ to change you – just give you some game. To make the transition, from the street to the fame.”
