U2 and Kendrick Lamar have become quite the collaborators this year. They first teamed up on the DAMN. song “XXX,” followed by K.Dot appearing at the end of “Get Out of Your Own Way.”
Now, they’re back together again on “American Soul,” a track taken from U2’s upcoming album Songs of Experience. The song serves as an alternate version of “XXX,” with Bono singing the familiar lyrics, “It’s not a place, this country is to me a sound of drum and bass, you close your eyes to look around.”
As for Kendrick, he says, “Blessed are the bullies, for one day they will have to stand up to themselves, blessed are the liars, for the truth can be awkward.”
