Wack talks Jay-Z vs. Dame Dash real Rocafella split, opening light to the public for never-before-heard story on the situation. For years, we’ve sat back and watched everyone give their opinion on why the Roc-a-Fella breakup happened. This has always led back to speculation of Jay-Z and Dame Dash having different visions moving forward with the business side of things within the company.
While some of that may be true, Jigga never intended to break up the Dynasty. Unfortunately, his hand was just forced, as the general public ran with their own assumptions for the last two decades. Dame still had admiration for Jay, until it was revealed that he was working with a former federal cooperator.
Initially, Mr. Dash intended to never work again with Mr. Carter. However, he had a surprise change of heart when his name was mentioned during Jigga’s induction into the Hall-of-Fame. Last week, Wack 100 revealed the complete truth about why the Roc-a-Fella breakup happened, and even compared it to his own situation with artists he’s worked with.
Simply put, Jay-Z wanted a large piece of his own pie, and after $100 million in revenue earned (EACH, including Biggs); everybody recouped what they originally invested. Sadly, Dame Dash got in his feelings and wanted to just abruptly end the entire situation.
So, it was Dame Dash that issued a split, as the company was sold back to Universal Records at the time; with Jay being appointed the face of Roc-a-Fella. Wack said that he’s taken a pay cut, just to stay with certain artists, knowing he’ll make more on the backend being linked to stars like Kanye West and others.
