Belgium Cruises Past Panama in 3-0 World Cup Win

It took 47 minutes for the Belgium national team to break through the score, but once they did, it was lights out for Panama.

The Panamanians gave it all they had in the first half, holding off all of the chances that Belgium created against them. Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne had a few opportunities that could have turned into goals.

But only two minutes after the second half started, Dries Mertens volley’d a shot to the top corner of the net, beating Jaime Penedo with the dive.

Then Romelo Lukaku put the nail in the coffin.

He scored a magnificent header in the 69th minutes thanks to a De Bruyne cross and in the 75th minute when Hazard gave him a beautiful through ball that saw him flick the blooper over the Panamanian keeper for his second score of the game.

That pretty much sealed the win.

Panama had their chances, but Thibaut Courtois proved to be too strong at the back. He had a few key saves that prevented the opposing team from scoring.

The win gives Belgium some confidence moving forward in Group G, with them being the clear favorites and one of the sleepers of the World Cup. With the attack as potent as they have, the Belgians have a chance to do some damage in the tournament when they’re firing on all cylinders.
