DeMar DeRozan Gets Standing Ovation & Tribute Video in First Game Back in Toronto

It is a homecoming for DeMar DeRozan tonight in The 6 as the San Antonio Spurs visit the Toronto Raptors. This is notable because it’s his first game back in the city since the franchise traded him to Texas. The love from the fans has not been lost, though.

Not only did they give him a standing ovation during player introductions, but the organization put together a tribute video for him.

During the timeout, they played it on the jumbotron, as he got up from his seat and waved to the crowd in attendance to say thank you. The PA announcer had some good words for him as well, as the fans continued cheering for him. Either way, it was a touching and heartfelt moment for everyone.

He’s gonna go down as one of the most legendary players to play for the Raptors.

UPDATE: DeRozan finished with 23 points and 8 assists, though the Spurs lost. After the game, DeMar said this of his experience back in T.Dot, “To come back here and get a reception like that is definitely humbling, beyond gratifying. I appreciate it. Tonight was like a playoff game. We had to grind it out all the way to the end.”
