Drew Brees Signs 2-Year Deal to Stay with the Saints

39-year old Drew Brees probably could have gotten more money in the free agent market, but the man wanted to stay in New Orleans and has signed a 2-year deal worth a reported $50 million dollars. $27 million dollars is guaranteed.

Although Brees is on the elder side of things for the Saints, this gives them a bit more time to groom a quarterback under him, as they look towards the future.

The deal will include a no-trade clause and technically is a one-year deal with a team option next season. Obviously, Brees wants to finish his career in NO.

Last season Drew threw for 4,344 yards (fewest of his career), 23 touchdowns and 8 interceptions, even though he completed 72 percent of his passes (an NFL record).

The Saints have always been in the playoffs mix, but the team has vastly improved and could make a run for the Super Bowl next season with the pieces they have.
