After witnessing Fox Sports 1 (and now Complex Media TV) gain access to celebrities and key sports figures since their mainstream induction a year ago, ESPN is looking to do the same in 2018.
The Disney-operated company is set to venture off from their Connecticut base to Lower Manhattan next year. In NYC, they will occupy a 19,000 square-foot space at Pier 17 to produce a variety of new projects. Those include multiple shows (like extensive NBA coverage), radio on TV, social segments and news clips from the location; which will be a breath of fresh of air from their current layout.
The facility also features outdoor roof and pier locations, that will be used as backdrops for segments within Fulton Street Market. In years past, ESPN was hindered with visitors by the remote Bristol location; but will now have access to everyone in their new Manhattan base.
Look for this renovation of the channel to likely occur next spring. Let us know in the comments if you expect ESPN to add any more significant names to the network.
