Floyd Mayweather Jr. Reacts to Triple G Calling Him Out

Watch Floyd talk about the state of boxing & retirement

Last night, following the unfortunate WBC super-middleweight title fight draw between Badou Jack and Lucian Bute, Floyd Mayweather was on hand to speak with his CBS and Showtime friends in Washington, DC. During the conversation above with Jim Gray, Floyd looked much heavier than month’s past – indicating that he’s not thinking about any return to the ring at the moment.

While traveling and enjoying time with family, he has had initial negotiations with CBS; but said he would only come back if he could walk away a 9-figure payday. Speaking of which, there’s been a slew of fighters calling him out, including Danny Garcia and the Gennady Golovkin, current unified WBA, IBF, IBO, and WBC middleweight champion. Following Triple G’s fight with Dominic Wade, he mentioned Mayweather and Canelo Álvarez as potential bouts he’d like to have.

Although Floyd downplayed any idea of him jumping three weight classes to 160 (when he’s never been able to make the 154 cut) he insisted that Golovkin should take the long-awaited fight against Andre Ward. Watch more from Mayweather’s interview above, where he likes being on the other side of helping fighters, including under his Mayweather Promotions company.
