Gregg Popovich Will Not Coach the Spurs for Game 3 of Playoffs

Erin Popovich, the wife of San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich died on Wednesday and the entire NBA community was sending their prayers and condolences to Coach Pop and the Spurs organization yesterday as the news broke.

As a result, Coach Pop will not be coaching Game 3 of San Antonio’s first-round playoff series at home tonight and Spurs assistant Ettore Messina will take over the helm.

Erin was battling with an illness for an extended amount of time and died at the age of 67.

Everyone in the organization has sent out their heartfelt thoughts to coach Pop, as well as Kevin Durant and LeBron James after his game last night.

Our thoughts are with Coach Pop during this difficult period.

The Spurs take on the Golden State Warriors tonight at 9:30pm EST at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, live on TNT.
