Jazz Eliminate LA Clippers in Game 7 of the First Round of NBA Playoffs

RELATED: Paul Pierce Says Goodbye to the NBA Career in Los Angeles

You knew it was coming. It was almost inevitable. The chances were high. The Los Angeles Clippers were going to be eliminated from the NBA Playoffs in the first round again.

The only difference is this time, names like Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and J.J. Redick were going to be free agents and there is a strong possibility the team is broken up and the franchise starts with a rebuild. Will it happen? It’s still up in the air.

The facts are, the Utah Jazz had the advantage in Game 6, playing at home, and couldn’t close the deal. So they came into the STAPLES Center and took care of business on the road.

CP3 did not step up to the plate in Game 7, only scoring 13 points on a bad shooting night and DeAndre Jordan had a pair of high flying dunks but his 23 points were not enough to pull out a victory for Lob City. Jamal Crawford was the only other Clippers player in double digits with 20 points.

On the Jazz side of things, Rudy Gobert got in foul trouble early (and only scored 1 point on the day) but Derrick Favors stepped up in his absence, scoring 17 points off the bench. Gordon Hayward had 26 points on an off-night, shooting wise, going 9-20 from the field. George Hill also added 17 points and 5 assists for the starters.

In the end, the young Jazz team proved to be too much for the Clips and the story ended the way people predicted it to once again. As a matter of fact, Coach Doc Rivers said in his post conference that folks have been writing the obituary for his team the past three months.

So what’s going to happen to the Clippers in the offseason? Will any players opt-in and stay in L.A.? Will Paul leave the squad and try to go chase a ring? There are talks he may go to the San Antonio Spurs. Where will Griffin end up?

Too many questions for such a ‘super team’ that never reached their full potential.

FINAL: UTAH 104 | LAC 91
