Jeanie Buss Says Phil Jackson Will Not Be Joining the Lakers

New York Knicks fans aren’t quite satisfied with what the Phil Jackson has been doing in the Big Apple the past season or two (besides drafting Kristaps Porzingis) and they have been calling for his head recently. First, he took a vacation during the middle of a coaching search, he hasn’t put the right pieces around Carmelo Anthony and has been trying too hard to implement his dated triangle offense when the NBA is headed in a new direction.

There has even been speculation that the Zen Master is only riding out his contract so he could pack his bags and make it back to the West Coast and join his girlfriend Jeanie Buss in the Los Angeles Lakers organization. Especially since his brother only has one year left in his “turn this franchise around” rebuild period. Who better than to take his spot than Phil?

All the theories have been temporarily shut down today by Jeanie, who is standing behind Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak, telling Ramona Shelbourne that Mr. Jackson will not be joining the Lakers any time soon because he’s rebuilding something in New York.

“To visit, yes…but in terms of basketball, he’s committed to New York for many years. He’s building something there. He has a mission, he’s on that journey to get the team back to where he believes it can be and it will be. He’s a former Knick … he loves New York, he loves the fans, he wants to make them proud.

In terms of the Lakers, we have a front office. They’re putting together a team … they have a vision. I’m excited to see what the future holds for us.”

So there you have it, either she’s deflecting the inevitable so people don’t ask her anymore for the foreseeable future or Phil is really staying in New York until he gets fired.

The fact of the matter is, the clock is ticking for both of these front offices.
