Jimmy Butler Suffers Meniscus Tear, Undergoes Surgery

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been one of the surprise teams of the NBA season, especially with the addition of Jimmy Butler, Jamal Crawford and Taj Gibson to go along with that young core of Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins. Unfortunately, one of the key pieces to the season has gone down for a few weeks.

Butler suffered a knee injury against the Houston Rockets during a non-contact play and an MRI revealed he has a meniscus tear in his knee. A timetable for his return has not been set but they expect him to miss around 4-6 weeks.

This is a huge blow because the Western Conference is currently stacked and only a few games separate seeds 4-8. The Timberwolves currently sit at the No. 4 spot, but if they lose any more games down the stretch, the could be on the outside looking in as far as the postseason goes.

Minnesota has been dangerous, but they will need everyone at 100% health if they plan on making a deep run in the playoffs.
