Josh Gordon Fails Another NFL-Administered Drug Test

What’s the real story here?

After missing the entire 2015 season, Cleveland Browns wide-receiver Josh Gordon could be in trouble again. According to Fox Sports, Gordon failed another NFL-administered drug test last month, following his year-long ban for violating the league’s anti substance abuse policy.

Last January, Josh applied for reinstatement, but is still waiting on approval from Roger Goodell and his associates. His previous 2015 suspension was simply for a positive alcohol test, but he was under a huge microscope from his original 10-game marijuana suspension in 2014. While he’s only played a total of five games since the 2013 seasons, his sample collected in last month’s test included marijuana and dilutee. Through its “A” and “B” samples, the evidence revealed was below the 35 nanograms per milliliter required for a positive test; but is still considered a positive test.

The new development still doesn’t mean he’ll miss the upcoming 2016 season, but this is definitely a red flag regarding his February application to be reinstated to the league. Last week, the Browns signed his former Baylor teammate, Robert Griffin III, but are contemplating on drafting another quarter during the NFL draft in a few days. After leading the league in yard received during the 2013 season, we’re hopeful this latest system hiccup doesn’t hinder the 24-year-old’s return to the field.

UPDATE: The NFL denies Josh Gordon’s reinstatement to get back in the league. He can apply for another reinstatement on August 1.
