Josh Gordon Has Been Reinstated Into the NFL Again

After meeting with NFL officials in New York City today, Josh Gordon has been reinstated into the NFL on a conditional basis.

Gordon has been out of the league for years for violating the league’s substance abuse policy on various occasions. He was suspended indefinitely on September of 2016, when he checked himself into rehab to overcome his addiction. The last game he played in the NFL? December 21, 2014.

Josh talked about his experience around that time in a documentary.

As of now, he can join the Cleveland Browns for workouts and begin practicing with them starting on November 20. He can return to the field on November 27, with the team’s discretion, but he could wind up playing the last five games of the season.

Roger Goodell had this to say about the decision:

“All of us at the league office want him to have every opportunity to resume his career and to be successful in the NFL. Whether that happens, however, at the end of the day will depend on Josh. His commitment to sobriety and to reaching his goals in football and beyond will determine his success. It ultimately is up to Josh.”

Hopefully he can stay clean and go back to beasting.
