Katy Perry To Headline Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show

Katy Perry’s largest twitter following count could double in 2015

Two months ago, reports surfaced from The Wall Street Journal that the NFL would no longer have music acts gracing their Super Bowl Halftime Show stage for free. With Last year’s Super Bowl XLVIII breaking TV records of 115.3 million viewers, the NFL soon proposed a new pay-to-play system for all musicians who wanted toperform. Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers saw huge boost in iTunes sales the following week after their big performance, which happened to be free of charge, for presumably the last time ever.

The league soon narrowed down their three biggest possible candidates for next year’s show to Rihanna, Coldplay and Katy Perry. After CBS banned RiRi’s single “Run This Town” with JAY Z and Kanye West (also the network carrying the big game), due to the NFL’s anti-violence media scandal a few weeks ago, we had little doubts she would be this year’s performer. The Barbados beauty didn’t hold her tongue either going on a brief twitter rant about the situation ending with a F*ck You message.

Her good friend Katy Perry was recent guest for ESPN’s College Game Day to randomly give her predictions for the day’s festivities and even responded to Super Bowl rumors saying, “I’m not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl.” Well, we guess maximum exposure to the entire world is something even Ms. Perry couldn’t resist, which Page Six of the NY Post has revealed a deal is almost completed. Katy’s currently been on her official The Prismatic World Tour, which the 130-date road trip will run through March 22nd of next year.

Her now confirmed Super Bowl XLIX performance this February 1st at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona will be just another walk in the park.
