Kawhi Leonard Could Stay in Toronto After Next Season

After being traded from the San Antonio Spurs to the Toronto Raptors, word around the NBA was that he was not going to play for them or that he was a sure fire bet to leave The 6 after the season and head to Los Angeles.

Not so fast.

A source close to Kawhi Leonard is now telling the San Diego Union-Tribune that he could fall in love with the city that Drake calls home. That person damn near guaranteed that Kwahi’s going to stay with the team.

“He’s going to fall in love with Toronto – it’s going to happen. He’s not going to leave, I’m telling you.”

This could spell bad news for the Los Angeles Lakers, who have gambled and decided to wait next summer and sign him as opposed to trading for him during the offseason. They thought the price of those young pieces that the Spurs were asking for was way too high to give up for Leonard.

We all saw what happened with Paul George and the Oklahoma City Thunder when he said how much he wanted to play for the Lake Show. Could the same happen with Kawhi?

In talking to ESPN’s The Jump, Spurs legend David Robinson said this Leonard situation was the oddest he’s seen in his pro-basketball career, but S.A. did what they could to remedy the situation and are happy with how the deal ended up. He even revealed that he reached out to Leonard, but he never heard back from him, only his uncle. For the type of organization they are, this plot just keeps getting more awkward.

How do you think this will play out for next summer?
