The Reason Why Kevin Durant & Draymond Green’s Heated Exchange Became Public

Kevin’s simply not use to playing with great talents (plural). . . .

Even with the best record in the entire NBA, the Golden State Warriors are still having internal issues, as the February mid-way point nears. Over the weekend, they were pitted in a road duel against DeMarcus Cousins and his Sacramento Kings, which resulted in a rare overtime loss.

With minimal bench help, like always, the Warriors saw little help from Kevin Durant, who finished with just 10 points, on 2-10 shooting, in 42-minutes. During key stretches of the game, Durant made some questionable decisions on offense and defense; but team captain, Draymond Green, didn’t like his iso ball play, that led to an ill-advised shot. Draymond soon diffused any rumors of it being a problem, posting a snapshot of Durant sleeping on his plane ride back home.

However, this isn’t the first time that Green has confronted Kevin in public, as you may remember Steph Curry also getting angered by an isolation play. During his time in OKC, Durant was accustomed to doing isolation plays, alongside Russell Westbrook; but Draymond isn’t a fan of altering the flow of Steve Kerr’s designed offense to get the best available shot.

Rather than let these issues build up, before their spring next run, Draymond is ensuring that Durant understands that nobody in the offense should do unnecessary things during close games – especially if they’re cold on the floor. We’re sure Steph Curry is echoing his actions, as well as Klay Thompson, who makes it an effort to take a shot anytime he catches the rock.

While Golden State may have flown under-the-radar for their first 43 games of the year, they’re now under a larger microscope for the next few coming weeks, as both Cleveland and San Antonio ready themselves for the return of key players, following All-Star Weekend.
