The quarterback pieces in the NFL are shuffling right now and at the head of the pack is Kirk Cousins, who is about to sign a landmark deal with the Minnesota Vikings.
The former Washington Redkins QB will ink a 3-year, $84 million contract (fully guaranteed) with the team, making him the highest-paid quarterback in the league and setting a precedent for contracts moving forward.
Last season, Cousins passed for 4,093 yards, threw for 27 touchdowns and notched 13 interceptions with the Redskins — totaling a QBR of 52.3.
The man cannot be franchise tagged any longer and is securing the bag.
This move makes the Vikings an automatic contender in the NFC, considering they made it to the championship game last season with a 13-3 record and their backup leading the way. Now they have a proven starter in Cousins, who is surrounded with a monster defense and some young pieces on offense.
Stefon Diggs, Dalvin Cook and one of the best defenses in the league? It’s lit.
Kirk Cousins is a hero for all the young players that will follow after him. Now we need more players to bet on themselves until fully guaranteed contracts are the norm and not the exception.
