Kristaps Porzingis May Miss All of Next Season for the Knicks

New York Knicks fans were hopeful for this season, even though they didn’t have a stacked team. At the least, led by Kristaps Porzingis, had the possibility of making the playoffs in the Eastern Conference at the eighth spot.

Once he went down with an ACL injury, the season was practically over the the Knicks.

Now in the lottery and looking at another rebuild year, it seems as if they could be without their star for an extended period of time. Owner James Dolan is keeping things into perspective after an update on Porzingis’ status, telling the New York Post that he could miss the 2018-2019 season:

“I’ve been told everything from December to him being out for the season, so I don’t know what to expect on that. But we can’t just sit on our ass while he’s away. We need to develop a team and then integrate him into it when he comes back.”

At the moment, Kristaps is flying out to his homeland of Latvia, where he will continue his rehab so he could return to the team healthy to play. Considering he went through surgery in February, his recovery could take from 10-12 months, putting him at risk to miss most of the season if all goes well. At that point, it would be better to keep him shut down, especially if the Knicks are looking at another lottery year.

Either way, New York fans should look forward to another long and disappointing season.
