Timmy may not be the only hall-of-fame big leaving S.A. this year
Last year, LaMarcus Aldridge shocked the basketball world, when he decided to leave the Portland Trailblazers and try to solidify his basketball career with the San Antonio Spurs. Since blowing a 2-1 lead to the Oklahoma City Thunder last May in the western conference semifinals, the behind-the-scenes relationship between the two hasn’t been well according to those around the league.
With Pau Gasol, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili aging by the second, the front office of the team is looking to part ways with the first ever free agent they had Gregg Popovich court in 2015. LaMarcus, who’s still owed $42 million over the next two years, can opt out summer 2018; but it’s likely that he could be moved before the all-star break – according to ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan.
At the moment, the Phoenix Suns have been the most mentioned suitor, due to his previously working relationship with head coach Earl Watson in Portland. However, we’d like to see him somewhere in a win-now situation, preferably on the east, with a team like the Indiana Pacers.
Let us know in the comments if you think the Spurs should trade away this major piece and start rebuilding now around Kawhi Leonard while he’s still in his mid-twenties.
