Los Angeles Lakers Hit With $500K Fine for Tampering

Remember when the Indiana Pacers filed a report with the NBA about how the Los Angeles Lakers were tampering with Paul George? The league has investigated and came to a conclusion.

Rob Pelinka was found to have contact with George’s agent after the Pacers warned him not to. According to the NBA, the Lakers “constituted a prohibited expression of interest in the player while he was under contract” and under league rules, a team cannot interfere with players under contract by informing anyone of their interest, whether publicly or behind closed doors.

The NBA said Pelinka’s contact with PG13’s agent came after they warned the organization about those Magic Johnson ‘wink-wink’ comments on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

At least they didn’t forfeit any of their draft picks, right?
