There has been talks about a SHAQ statue going up outside of STAPLES Center for a while and the day finally came for the Diesel to see it and celebrate it.
Yesterday, the Los Angeles Lakers held a ceremony to unveil the statue, with thousands of fans gathering outside the arena to see it for the first time. Old coaches, players and front office staff were in attendance, as well SHAQ’s family. Folks like Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant, Jerry West, Jeanie Buss and even Magic Johnson (through video) spoke about O’Neal’s contributions to the Lakers organization and why he was such a big reason they won multiple championships.
SHAQ also spoke and gave a shoutout to old teammates like Robert Horry and Brian Shaw, telling stories about what he remembers most about playing with them.
