Men’s USA Basketball Wins Gold at Rio Olympics

Even with the squad missing notable names like LeBron James, Steph Curry, LaMarcus Aldridge and Russell Westbrook, USA Basketball achieved the gold medal in this year’s Rio Olympic games.

The road to gold wasn’t easy, but their 96-66 route of Serbia in the final sure was. It marked the third straight gold for Team USA, in an Olympics that has been dominated by Americans in every sport. Mike Krzyzewski leaves with three gold medals for his tenure as final game with the national team, leaving the throne in good hands.

Kevin Durant scored 30 points and was Team USA’s highest scorer on the night, helping the squad cruise after a bug halftime lead.

Most notably, Carmelo Anthony has now become the most decorated male in Olympic basketball history, winning his third gold medal, along with the bronze he already had.

THAT MOVEMENT THOUGH

Many criticized the team for not being as talented as past years, but those who put on the jersey brushed off the talk from the media and fans and set their eyes on the prize. While every team since the “Dream Team” will never live up to the hype, the fact remains that Team USA continues winning the gold.

Either way, they deserve the credit. Congrats to USA Basketball!
