NBA Makes Changes to 2017 All-Star Balloting Procedures

Not only has next year’s NBA All-Star Game move from Charlotte to New Orleans, but there will be significant changes coming to the balloting. The league has now implemented a method that will allow fans, media and the players to vote for who makes it on to the teams.

When All-Star voting starts on Christmas Day (at 11am EST), fans will account for 50% of the vote, while select media members and players will account for 25% of the vote each.

The players will be able to vote for themselves or their teammates when they submit their ballot.

While these changes may tweak the players chosen (and hopefully eliminate big snubs we’ve seen in the past) some, coaches in the Eastern and Western Conferences will continue to vote for the seven reserves in their respective conferences.
