It’s a homecoming for KG

With a trade-clause in his contract, Kevin Garnett showed no signs of going anywhere before the trade deadline, but he made on exception: The Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Brooklyn Nets will deal KG to the team that drafted him, in exchange for Thaddeus Young. The Timberwolves gave up a first round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers to get Young earlier in the season, in a deal that saw the likes of Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett to Minnesota.

Garnett spent his first 12 years in the league with the Timberwolves, taking them to the Western Conference championship in 2004 and eight playoff appearances in his tenure there. The team has not made the playoffs since that year, and ultimately traded KG to the Boston Celtics before the 2007-2008 season, where he went on to win a championship. He will bring a veteran presence to the young T-Wolves squad that now boasts a lineup of The Bounce Brothers and Ricky Rubio.

It has been speculated that KG has strong interest in becoming an owner in Minnesota after retirement.
