Paul Heyman Reveals Disney Almost Purchased ECW

Authentic Untold Story of ECW

We have to admit, WWE Network kind of overdoes ECW nostalgia to the point where we no longer go through its library, because of the company’s unfortunate foreclosure. However, this week, fans of the original product were treated to an original presentation, the Authentic Untold Story of ECW.

Throughout the conversation, Paul Heyman reflected on the behind-the-scenes jobs of his former company – including sharing a few stories alongside Tommy Dreamer, The Dudley Boyz and Taz.

During the mid-way point of Heyman’s story, he shared a rare story on how Disney was almost a share buyer for ECW in the mid-90s; which he thought would’ve helped them get full-fledged pay-per-view support. Unfortunately, the company pulled out of the deal, when the actual Vice Chairman of Disney at the time said “Not this product. Just a little too non-Disney for Disney.”

Following their partnership with WCW to host their weekend events until 1997, this wouldn’t have been the first-time Disney partook in the wrestling business. After you watch an excerpt from the untold story of ECW, head over the WWE to watch the full clip, for just $9.99.
