Paul Pierce Will Play One More Season in NBA Before Retiring

Paul Pierce has been contemplating retirement this whole offseason. He’s had a hard time going back and forth on whether to do it now or not, but he has finally decided.

Announcing to The Player’s Tribune, Pierce has conceded to his age and wants to make 2016-2017 his last season in the NBA. He knows he can’t play forever, and he wants to enjoy the last ride and time with his teammates and give it one more round. He thinks the L.A. Clippers have a chance to win the NBA Championship and he wants to help the cause, all while soaking in the fact that he’s doing it for the final season.

Coach Doc Rivers hinted at his return earlier this offseason, saying Paul still had something left in the tank and wanted his veteran presence to help build a championship caliber team in Los Angeles to help the likes of Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

Of course, last season the team suffered a first round exit thanks to injuries.

Could this year be different? The Clippers are going have a handful getting past the San Antonio Spurs and new super team Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference.
