Richard Sherman Says NFL Players Are Jaded About Fantasy Football

There’s been something brewing lately with NFL players and Fantasy Football. They’re hating it. Mostly because people are starting not to care about their talent or performance, in terms of the actual game, but rather fantasy.

Richard Sherman sounded off during a press conference, speaking on the topic. He told reporters that people don’t even look at NFL players like actual people anymore and disregard them when they get injured, not putting into account their emotional well-being or mental state, having to come back from these injuries.

“I think a lot of people, a lot of fans out there have looked at players even less like people because of fantasy football and things like that. You go and say, ‘Oh man, this guy got hurt.’ You’re not thinking, ‘Hey man, this guy got hurt — he’s really physically hurt and he’s going to take time to recover and it’s probably going to affect his mental state and his physical state and now he has a long, rigorous rehab.’ You’re thinking, ‘Oh, man, he’s messing up my fantasy team.'”

You know you’ve heard folks pissed off because David Johnson is out for half the season, or Dalvin Cook tearing his ACL and being out for the year. Losing Derek Carr as a fantasy starter. Shit, we’ve even done that a time or two, but do Sherman’s words give you a new perspective on the subject?

Richard speaks on it starting at 4:15.
