Robert Covington’s Buzzer Beater Against the Timberwolves

Not a lot of people were watching this game (unless you’re a fan of either team), probably because both teams sit at second to last in their respective conferences. But it had a crazy finish.

With 6.5 seconds left, the Minnesota Timberwolves were down three points against the Philadelphia 76ers and looking to tie the game. Karl-Anthony Towns got the in-bounds pass and found an open Ricky Rubio, who hit the triple from downtown and tied the game at 91.

In the next possession, the Sixers were looking for a catch and shoot (with 1.6 seconds left) and after a lapse on defense from Andrew Wiggins, Robert Covington got open and slashed to the hoop, catching and throwing up the last second layup.

It went in at the buzzer. The crowd at Wells Fargo Center went bezerk.

Covington only had 13 points in the game but the last two were the most crucial. Joel Embiid led all Philly players in scoring with 25 points and 8 rebounds.

Zach Lavine led all scorers with 28 points and Towns dropped 23 points for the Wolves in the loss.
