San Antonio Spurs Blow Out the GS Warriors at Oracle Arena

JONATHAN SIMMONS’ FATALITY ON DUB NATION

The hype was extremely high at Oracle Arena as the San Antonio Spurs came into town and faced the new-look Golden State Warriors. With Kevin Durant on the squad, everyone and their mama (except maybe Cleveland Cavaliers fans) is predicting the Dubs are going back to the finals and now have the firepower to beat the Cavs.

The Spurs? They don’t have Tim Duncan anymore. Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker are getting old. This LaMarcus Aldridge experiment is coming to an end he might get traded. The game tonight wasn’t supposed to go this way, but somehow it did.

Thanks to a career night from Kawhi Leonard (35 points), a double double from Aldridge (26 points and 14 rebounds) and a surprise showing from Jonathan Simmons off the bench (20 points & 4 rebounds), the Warriors had no answers for Coach Gregg Popovich and company.

Steph Curry had 26 points and Kevin Durant had a strong showing with 27 points and 10 rebounds, but Klay Thompson only scored 11 points and Draymond Green only contributed with 18 of his own. The Golden State bench? Absolutely AWOL. Defense? Nowhere to be found.

It’s only one game into the season, but the Warriors are going to get roasted this year if they don’t turn things around soon. Of course, the team still needs time to gel.
