Pippen says he would personally guard Stephen Curry!

As the Golden State Warriors inch closer to passing the 1996 Chicago Bulls for the most victories ever in a single season (as well as an imminent repeat), Scottie Pippen was approached by The Dan Patrick Show of Direct TV over the weekend. During the brief conversation, Pippen was asked hypothetically how the two teams would match-up in an NBA Finals 7-game series.

Without any hesitation, Scottie immediately said in four games – saying he would personally guard Stephen Curry with Michael Jordan focusing on Klay Thompson. While it’s no secret that the Warriors may have the best shooting backcourt in the history of the league, facing up against tandem of the superior defensive Bulls squad would’ve been a sight to see.

Coincidentally, Steve Kerr, who’s current head coach for Golden State and former teammate of Scottie’s was asked about these comments. Kerr went to say, “First of all, it’s a really hard question to answer. Not just because you’re comparing eras, but literally it’s tough for me to answer, grammatically, because I don’t know ‘who we’ is and who ‘they’ are. I’ll just say if the two teams play each other, there’s no question we can beat us and they can beat them.”

“For example, if you actually put the teams in a hypothetical game, my guess is the Bulls would be called for a million hand-check fouls, and we would be called for a million illegal defenses when we overloaded the strong side. So the game would take, like, six hours because the refs would be calling stuff all game. It’s kind of hard to get past that. Now, they wouldn’t call traveling in either era.”
